Social Functioning之定義

目前學界針對Social functioning之定義尚無一致的共識。

常見的定義是：個人扮演不同社會角色的能力，如：家庭主婦，工人，學生，配偶，家庭成員或朋友。

其它與Social functioning概念相似，或常與Social functioning交替使用的詞彙如下：

1. social performance

2. social adjustment: how a person conforms to social expectations

3. social dysfunction: an impaired ability to get along with others and function in society

4. social adaptation: one’s ability to live in accordance with interpersonal, social and cultural norm

5. social competence: the overall ability of a person to impact favourably on his or her social environment
